I had the opportunity to speak to the infamous DJ known for stirring up beef on Soundcloud and the music board "/mu/" on 4chan.
int: so first of all, thanks so much for letting me interview you.
dubbi: yeah
int: let's go all the way back to the beginning. how did you get into making music?
dubbi: i heard music on the radio and i knew it was sucky compared to what i could do. so i downloaded a dj app on my ipod touch.
int: wow! you started making music just on an ipod?
dubbi: yes
int: were you just dj'ing songs or making new songs?
dubbi: yeah
int: both?
dubbi: i was sampling from songs to make new music.
int: is that still your method?
dubbi: yes.
int: just that?
dubbi: it's a lot, but you wouldn't know since you're not a musician. plus, i do more... i have worker-grunts who make my ideas for me and then i tell them how to arrange it. i'm like a classical composer.
int: wow. truly revolutionary.
dubbi: yeah
int: so sampling is your main go-to? even when you have music made original for your records it's sampled from musicians who made it for you.
dubbi: no. it's mine
int: what about the rumors on /mu/ about you stealing music?
dubbi: rumor
int: do you play instruments?
dubbi: yes
int: why are you credited as "ideas" in your recordings then?
dubbi: i don't play instruments in my recordings.
int: why not?
dubbi: i don't have to, i'm an artist, not a worker-grunt
int: artists can play instruments.
dubbi: does an architect lay bricks?
int: well, no.
dubbi: exactly. i'm smarter than you so don't try that again.
int: why do you make dubstep?
dubbi: i make... copy and paste my list from the internet into the interview.
int: ok i will

dubbi: yeah
int: let's get into what people want to know about; your next album. after your double release of Volumes 9.0 and 9.5, what's next? Volume 10?
dubbi: yes
int: that's it?
dubbi: it's also called "Balancer" but the second 'A' is upside down.
int: what style is the album?
dubbi: just my usual combination of experimental dubstep mixed with other EDM like techno and progressive house.
int: the next big question is; is it a yellow album or a red album?
dubbi: yellow
int: will you do a red remix album like what Volume 9.5 was for 9.0?
dubbi: i already thought of that.
int: wow. always 2 steps ahead.
dubbi: hahaha like the genre
int: i guess so
dubbi: yeah i'm more clever than you
int: how did your "beef list" on SoundCloud start?
dubbi: i had beef with people on there, so i made a list.
int: but why?
dubbi: because i had beef with them.
int: i know but why would you make a list?
dubbi: because i had beef with them.
int: ok. how did you become a meme?
dubbi: i'm not.
int: what should we expect from you in the future?
dubbi: lots of music. 2 to 5 albums a year.
